Herdade das Cortiçadas is a wonderful manor in Évora region, where tradition and the art of making wine and producing cork are lost in time. Exceptional soils, edaphoclimatic characteristic of one of the highest points in the region and the coexistence of international and native grape varieties strongly mark the wine of this land. In its traditional wine cellar, optimized (but not distorted) by modern technologies, the old Alentejo wine traditions are still maintained, such as the wine fermentation and maceration in the old mills and the daily grape-stomping. The old cement deposits were given a new use as a laboratory. The old olive oil press is, today, a beautiful tasting room/museum. The House of Malta was also revitalized and continues to house the seasonal workers of the manor and visitors. Herdade das Cortiçadas opened its doors to the public, sharing its uniqueness, beauty and history in a very special family environment. It is possible to participate and to live the production of its wines, from the grape to the glass, to visit the vineyard, the winery, the dehesa and the old oil mill, to have wine tastings and to carry out unique events, always hosted by the producer and his family. Herdade das Cortiçadas is an excellent example of the best of what Alentejo and Portugal have to offer.
